Chloe Benjamin’s upcoming novel The Immortalists is headed to the small screen. Gail Berman’s The Jackal Group has acquired the television rights to the book for development as a cable series. The novel will be published by Putnam/Penguin Random House in early 2018.
The Immortalists is a family love story spanning five decades, centering on four siblings who, as children, visit a fortune teller who predicts the day each will die. Subsequently, they find their lives spiraling and intertwining in dramatic ways, probing the line between destiny and choice, faith and magical thinking, reality and illusion, present and past, this world and the next.
The Jackal Group’s Berman and Joe Earley will executive produce.
“In The Immortalists, Chloe has crafted a rich and deeply engrossing portrait of the bond between siblings caught in an extraordinary situation that forces them to test the limits of destiny. This tremendous story will translate brilliantly into a captivating, larger-than-life television series,” said Berman.
Benjamin’s first novel The Anatomy of Dreams (Atria/Simon & Schuster, 2014), received the Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award and was longlisted for the 2014 Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize. She’s repped by WME.
